Single vision lenses have one corrective power over the entire lens surface, making it one of the simplest types of lens designs to create. Yet the single vision lens can incorporate a multitude of design characteristics to improve wearer vision and comfort, such as aspheric (non-spherical) designs to correct small distortions and provide flatter, lighter lenses.

The corrective power for single vision lenses is designated by your eye doctor in a prescription for either distance or close-up vision, but not both.
